Four Seasons Nursery is a family owned business. We have been involved in the landscape & nursery business for over 20 years and are located on approximately 155 acres, 7 miles East of Kalispell Montana between Flathead Lake and Glacier Park. We grow cold hardy trees for the Rocky Mountain States and Beyond. Our trees are grown on Creston Topsoil that creates a superior rootball and allows excellent root development during the growth of the tree and once the tree is dug. Our elevation is nearly 3,000 feet and the temperature extremes vary dramatically, acclimating our trees to a wide range of varying temperatures, therefore allowing a cold hardy tree to be used in demanding environments.
Our trees are spaced wide in the planting row and not grown only a few feet apart. This allows more sunlight along with air circulation so that the tree is allowed to grow uniform and not one sided.
We use drip irrigation with emitters on each individual tree. This process allows a dense fibrous root system to develop, along with conserving water that would otherwise be sprayed into the air. We have found that this is a good nursery practice. This method allows water directly to the root system and also conserves valuable water resources.
Our spruce trees are started at either 30-36" or 3-4' size along with the Austrian Pine at 3-4'. Because of the size we start with, the tree has already been transplanted several times before they are planted in our nursery. This transplanting process allows maximum fibrous root systems for these trees, minimizes transplant shock and allows you the customer with a quality tree for installation into the landscape. We are proud of our Evergreens and believe your will be happy with them also.
Our Deciduous trees are generally lined out at a larger size so we can produce a large tree faster, in order to keep up with the demand of the industry. The varieties that we grow are cold hardy and produce nice shaped heads because of the spacing in the nursery row.
